IB World Schools share a common philosophy: a commitment to a rigorous and quality international education that we consider important to our students.

What is IB education?

IB education offers a continuum of international education programs. IB programmes encourage students to achieve their academic and personal goals, leading them not only to shine in their studies, but also in their personal growth.

Being part of an IB education provides a transformative experience for students, teachers and school communities as a whole, and achieves excellent results because it provides an interesting, relevant, stimulating and meaningful education.

What is the IB Primary Years Programme?

The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), is destined to students aged 3 to 12, focuses on the holistic development of the child and their capacity for inquiry, both at school and in the world at large.

  • It envolves the academic, social and emotional well-being of students.
  • Encourage students to develop their independence and take responsibility for their own learning.
  • It supports students’ efforts to understand the world and learn to function easily within it.
  • It helps students establish personal values that will form the foundation on which international-mindedness will develop and prosper.

By actively participating in an integrated and continuous assessment, students begin to regulate their own learning effectively and to be able to act on the basis of constructive feedback.

The programme of inquiry is organized and framed by six transdisciplinary themes:

  • Who we are.
  • Where we are in place and time.
  • How we express ourselves.
  • How the world works.
  • How we organize ourselves.
  • Sharing the planet.

Children develop authentic learning experiences that are not restricted by the boundaries of traditional subjects, but allow them to expand their learning by developing their conceptual understanding, reinforcing their knowledge and skills in all disciplinary areas:

  • Language
  • Mathematics
  • Sciences
  • Social studies
  • Arts
  • Personal, social and physical education

To achieve the development of their conceptual understanding, inquiry methods are used that constitute a powerful tool to achieve meaningful learning.

These approaches encourage students to handle ideas critically and creatively, based on the belief that learning to learn is fundamental to their lives, both inside and outside the school context, developing in them:

  • Thinking skills
  • Communication skills
  • Research skills
  • Self-management skills
  • Interpersonal skills

Similarities between IB and Montessori Education

  1. They are based on the integral development of students to maximize their physical, emotional and intellectual capacity.
  2. They promote freedom of movement, free interaction within the classroom.
  3. We work by transdisciplinary learning areas, adapted to the student, in an environment that stimulates creativity, manipulation and research through tangible and real didactic material.
  4. They promote teamwork and collaboration, instead of, implementing a reward system.
  5. Students handle on from their own mistakes as part of the process to success and autonomy.
